Shadows of the Skyline

The skyscraper loomed over the city like a silent sentinel, its glass facade reflecting the endless dance of light and shadow. Li Dan stood at the top, her eyes fixed on the horizon, searching for the familiar silhouette of Wei Ying. The wind howled through the narrow windows, carrying with it the echoes of their past.

"Li Dan, you're here," Wei Ying's voice was a whisper that seemed to come from all directions at once. She appeared at the other end of the observation deck, her silhouette merging with the skyline.

Li Dan nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "I was afraid you would leave me. Afraid that you would never understand."

Wei Ying stepped forward, her hand reaching out to touch Li Dan's face. "I never would have left you. You're my Li Dan, and I love you for who you are, not who your family was."
